i am 17 years old and i have a little patch of grey hair on the top of my head, what is this? will i get more grey hair? is there a way to get rid of it?

Normal. I started noticing grey in mid 20s. Dyeing doesn't seem worth the trouble for just a patch. sounds pretty distinctive, like it sets you apart I'd leave it.

i was 99% gray by the time i reached 24. Unless you dye your hair, there's no natural way to have the true color return. by the way, many women find a younger, gray haired man to be sexy.

my advice would be to stop worrying about the small patches that have developed. should the gray continue to cause you stress, try dying it or learn to accept the color as a natural part of you. should people not accept you with your gray hair (which isn't going to happen), then they're not worth wasting your time with.

Your problem sounds genetic. The only thing you can really do is start dying your hair regularly, every 4-6 weeks. Doing it at home is really easy, if you follow the directions. Less expensive too. Most hair dyes are applied like shampoo, you just saturate your hair, let it sit for the amount of time in the directions, wet with warm water to get a lather, then rinse. Most brands include a conditioner. THat is the best part I think. Just remember, if you have hair that is shouler lenght or longer, you will need 2 boxes of dye.

If you have never dyed your hair before, I suggest going to the salon the first time, so you can get recomendations on colors. If your hair is black, you will want to stay in the darker scale of things, blonde will turn your hair red, and red will make your hair look an orangy copper. Try for Chestnut and espresso colors. Try using colors that have natural bases, stay away from golden base. The box will tell you what the base is. Golden bases give darker hair red streaks. Not very flattering.

I hate to break it to you, but getting grey hair is genetic and it seems everyone in your family has greyed early. The other factors (straightening your hair, washing every other day, etc.) have no bearing on the color of your hair. If it gets bad enough, you can always dye it. Try not to stress over it, at least there is a solution to cover it.

Why do I have grey hair at 18?

I found a couple of grey hairs last August and didn't think much of it. Fast forward to now and I have 2 large distinct spots of grey/white...one on the right side of my head, then an inch away at my bangs I have a small strip there also. Now going through most of the similar questions on this...I've had no past traumatic experiences, no medication, no family history, and I've been pretty healthy all my life. Perhaps stress? Why would it come in the summer then, when its probably the least stressful time with no school. Also I was curious if the two spots mean anything? In his case it may be a recessive gene. Even though neither of his parents displayed it, one or both of them most likely carry it and passed it on to him.

For instance, both of my parents have brown eyes. My great grandmother had green eyes, as do I. My mother carried the gene and passed it onto me, even though she did not display it.

By the way, my mother also passed on grey hair to me...LOL. She was totally grey by 25, and at 34 i am mostly grey.

Ok I need some help. I am 27 years old and I have a lot of grey hair!!!! (really I do) I used to be able to get away with it but I have really dark brown hair! And it is coming out White! So I cant really cover it up anymore! Is there anything I can do! I am only 27!!! I have a stressful job. I am not sure if that is what is doing it. There is really no vitamin that will change your grey back to your natural color. The only time I have ever seen someone get their natural color back from grey is sometimes after cancer treatment.

You do need to use color and I suggest only permanent color. You can have your hair low lighted with your natural color if the grey has become very obvious and you want to do it gradually or just go for the over all color.

With dark hair make sure to do a neutral or warm color and not ash as the ash will make you look aged.

To want to hide grey hair is crazy, just go get a haircolour closest to your natural hair colour and dye it all that colour. Use something that works on grey hair like nice and easy, or something. The older you get the more acceptable grey hair will be and soon you wont have to dye it anymore.

From experience I can tell you, don't pull it out....bec if you do, in a couple of months you will see about 5 grey hairs in that same area. ....leave it alone.....to camouflage it incase it makes you too conscious, use some mascara on that strand of hair.....everday

My husband does my hair all the time. At least once every month. I have a lot of grey, mostly at the roots. My hair is dark and it sure shows up a lot.

When he does it. He mixes the dye and starts at my roots and in back underneath....Then he uses all the solution to cover my entire head and rubs it in all over. I leave it on 45 minutes and rinse it...Then condition it. I have always had compliments on it and it works for me. Doing it this way...

The grey always goes a lighter brown and the rest is just a bit darker. but it looks good. With blond hair it might be different, I don't know. As you can see in my Avitar, it don't look bad...LOL

If the other looks like it has faded and needs to be pulled thru the ends..just leave it the last 5-10 minutes. That should lift it back up.

you should leave it on the grey for the full time in the instructions ,then pull through to the ends ( if they need refreshing) for only the last 5- 10 mins. If your grey is stubborn you can pre-soften by applying just the peroxide to the grey for 10 -15 mins before putting the colour on, this will open the cuticle for better colour deposit.
