Can you use a hair dye advertised to "cover grey hair" on hair that isn't grey?

at the store, i could only find the color i desired in a box that advertiesed covering grey hair (clairol mens choice). I have dyed hair now, but i want to cover it up with my original hair color (or something close) is it alright to do that without it ruining my hair?

Yes you can use it. The only difference between that and the other is the hair color for grey hair is a little harsher. It has to use more peroxide or accelorator to penetrate the cuticle on grey hair because it is coarser and more resistant to color. Just think of what you have as "heavy duty" color for normal hair. I doubt you will be able to tell a difference.
