Is grey hair the result of age, stress or heredity?

I am asking because I know a boy who was greying at eleven and a girl who was thoroughly grey by sixteen. I was told that they boy was from a family who had a history of insanity. A coworker in administrationed greyed in about two weeks!

Gray hair is the loss of pigment in the hair shaft. Hair grays as people get older. It is heredity that causes premature graying. Such as the color of your hair is hereditary. Gray hair by no means is linked to insanity. As far stress or trauma causing gray I do not believe that is true.

Becoming grey at the age of 11 and 16 is because of heredity.

When you get older your hair becomes grey because of age and stress.

all 3

all can be a factor as well as poor nutritian and lack of exercise (blood flow to the scalp)

My high school math teacher went grey in 6 months due to several family members and friends dying that period. She was a great teacher but it was strange seeing her hair turn so fast.

Some people get what is called a shock of grey. A small gray patch in otherwise normal hair color. This can be attributed to a 'shock' to the system whether physical or emotional.

I am unaware of a connection between grey hair and insanity.

it is caused by all of the above
