Grey hair dye...?

I'd like to dye part of my hair grey (yes grey, it's my favorite color, LOL) as in highlights- how would this work? I can't do it myself so should I check in with a beauty parlor and ask them to "special order" it if they don't have it? How many times would I have to dye it (bleach it...)?

I have thick, auburn hair, and am going through a phase, LOL

Any help appreciated, I've never even got highlights before.

Grey hair dye...?

you should go to your local salon and tell them what you request, or maybe you could look at wallgreens or another drugstore and they may have some. Sally's has a lot of beauty supplies.

Hope I helped

Grey hair dye...?

I guess you could wait for a long time until it starts doing it on its own! haha...just kidding!

Grey hair dye...?

You have to becareful doing this yourself. I am a licensed cosmetologist, and this would probably be a job for a professional. Grey is a form of an ash color. You have to becareful using ash, because it can turn out green. On auburn hair it may not turn green because your hair has red in it. Red %26amp; green neutralize each other. You may have to strip some of that red out depending on your color. I would definately not attempt this yourself, especially grey!

Grey hair dye...?

You should only have to bleach your hair once with Loreal Blondissma. It works really good. There is grey hairdye around in local drug stores and it should cover over the bleach. I don't recommend bleaching your hair more than once.

Grey hair dye...?

Bleaching your hair over and over will just weaken it, which is bad.

Here's an article about trying to achieve the effect with a mixture of colors:

Also, if you don't care about the texture it turns out, there are theatrical products which will add a silver overlay to your haircolor without actually dying it. You would have to reapply it every day.

Here are some retail sites for products (or you can check the theatrical supply outlet in your area):
