My dad seems to believe that's true. He just doesn't want to touch his small amount of grey hairs because he fears that he'll get an even larger amount of grey hairs.

However, due to gene defects, sometimes a young person may find a gray hair or two in his/her scalp. Sometimes stress can cause us to have gray hair too. But to answer your question, you are more likely to grow back a regular colored strand of hair than a gray hair though you may still find a gray hair every once in a while.
